Tomatin travelled to Aviemore for this first round cup match hoping to progress into the semi finals especially because this is their own cup. They started really well and were the better team in the first half hour but a combination of some good saves from stand in keeper Ben Mitchell together with a few missed opportunities kept the match level. It was the home team who took a surprising lead in the 35th minute after a good strike from young Sammy Domman was well saved by Stuart but the rebound fell nicely for Barry Mc Connell who slotted home from close range.
Tomatin came out for the second half in determined mood after wondering how they were behind at the interval and got back on level terms after just 5 minutes. A nice move down the right saw a nice one/two between Murray Fraser and Lewis MacKay before the ball was crossed in and Hamilton who glanced it into the net with his head. This was the break through that the visitors needed and they took the lead 4 minutes later when a cross from Findlay MacLeod seemed to deceive Mitchell and the ball looped over him into the net.
Tomatin were now controlling the match and extended their lead on the hour mark when an Andy Buchanan strike from 25 yards flew past Mitchell. This was quickly followed by a strike from Hamilton from the edge of the box after good work from Callum Fyfe which made it 4 -1 to The visitors. Tomatin now had the luxury of making 3 subs to freshing things up and it was two of the subs who combined when player Manager Kennedy found Edwin MacDonald who played in Murray Fraser and he knocked the ball in low past Mitchell to complete the rout.
The two teams will meet again on league duties next Tuesday and Aviemore will be hoping to reverse this result by taking the points there.
