Boat of Garten hosted Tomatin on Tuesday night with the visitors hoping to continue their good league form. The match started slowly with both teams feeling the heat on a very hot night for football. It was Tomatin who took the lead after 22minutes with a well taken goal from last weeks hatrick hero Findlay MacLeod. It came from a throw in which was headed on by Ed MacDonald then controlled by MacLeod on his chest and finished with a neat volley past the keeper.
The remainder of the first half was a rather tight affair with the home keeper being the busiest but at half time it was Tomatin who held onto their slender lead. Into the second half and the sun continued to beat down on the park with plenty of water on standby for the players.
On the hour mark the visitors got a well deserved second goal when a corner on the far side was met by the head of Jason MacDonald and the ball sneaked in at the near post. This goal seemed to help Tomatin settle down and they began to play some good football in the middle of the park . There was a few half chances at either end of the pitch but it was Tomatin who took the three points to keep things tight at the top half of the table.
Tomatin will entertain league leaders Grantown on Friday night in a rearranged match being brought forward at the request of Grantown . Two form teams should make for a good game.
