New website for The Strathdearn

TheStrathdearnWebsite 02The Strathdearn has a new website : https://www.thestrathdearn.org.
There are many features which locals will find useful :

(1) The Event Calendar : https://thestrathdearn.org/events/.
Once a booking has been made, the details are entered into this online diary, making it quick and easy to look up future events or find out when a room is available for hire. Each room/facility is coded with a different colour and you can get more info on a booking by hovering over or clicking on the event.

(2) View Our Facilities : https://thestrathdearn.org/compare-facilities/. This page is our shop window – all our facilities in one place for easy comparison.  If you want to know the size of a room, the seating capacity, what equipment is available with it, etc, this is where to find out.

(3) Hire Our Facilities : https://thestrathdearn.org/hire-our-facilities/
Strathdearn residents can continue to hire a room in the same way as previously – tell Janet or Tiffani and they will make the booking and issue an invoice. If you usually pay monthly or whatever, that arrangement will continue.  However some people may prefer to book and pay online. Instructions:

  • Check the events calendar to see if the date/time is available.
  • Follow the link above and enter your details.
  • When asked for a voucher at checkout, locals should enter “IV13” which will deduct 33% from the advertised rates.
  • Submit the booking. The events manager will email you to confirm the booking and supply a link to a payment page where you can pay by credit/debit card.
  • Regular customers may create an account (https://thestrathdearn.org/my-account/) to save filling in address details every time, although actually, your browser will probably remember these details and autofill them.

The new website will showcase our hub to the world beyond Strathdearn and encourage non-residents to hire the hub facilities and thus subsidise our own use of them. The site is a little sparse at the moment but it will fill out and become more attractive as photos of the hub in use become available. Additional features are in the pipeline – a photo gallery, a wedding showcase; a testimonial display, information on shop and cafe.

The existing community website https://thestrathdearn.org will continue for the time being, specialising in local news and information. The two sites may merge at some point, or perhaps not. There are pros & cons either way. In the meantime, apologies for the confusingly similar web addresses.

Housing and Community Needs Survey

SCD Ltd are keen to deliver the communities aspirations for affordable housing. So that we gain a better understanding of the housing “need” in terms of size of properties and tenures, (social rent, shared ownership, self-build options etc.), we have commissioned a survey.

Please complete one of the surveys and spread the word to people who would like to return or join our community and are looking for an affordable housing option to be able to do so.

The survey’s are on-line and confidential but we also have paper copies with pre-paid envelopes both at the shop and the Strathdearn office. The survey starts Monday 9th March and runs until 3rd April 2020.
