Strathdearn is a river valley in the Highlands of Scotland extending about 22 miles long from Coignafearn to Moy, following the river Findhorn’s meandering course through the parishes of Dalarossie, Tomatin and Moy. The upper reaches of The Glen are narrower, then widen to almost 4 miles with the main centre of the community at Tomatin, meaning “Hill of the Juniper” in Gaelic.
Tomatin is situated 25km south of Inverness and 25 km north of Aviemore (in Cairngorm National Park), nestling in spectacular scenery but just 15 minutes drive from city shopping, theatre, cinema, restaurants, etc. To help you take advantage of our many fine walks and cycle routes, we have created a high-resolution ACCESS MAP which you can download here:
The Strathdearn is situated on the main street through Tomatin, near the village centre, clearly visible from the road. If you are coming from Inverness direction, pass under the railway bridge and it is 200m on the left. Coming from the south, cross over Findhorn river bridge and it is 300m on the right.
Set in the heart of the village of Tomatin, The Strathdearn makes the most of its countryside location with floor to ceiling windows framing the amazing views over the Findhorn viaduct and hills beyond.
