Moy Matters #11 November 2020 Newsletter

The MSC meetings have now resumed using Zoom. So what has been happening?

  1. The Birch Walk: This is now more or less complete. New gates for walkers/cyclists are now in place at either end of the walk as well as five new benches. The first section of the path, at the Tullochclury end, has been left as it is as Forestry and Land Scotland will be accessing this section in 2021 and will be laying their own foundation.
  2. Moy roadside path: Some maintenance work has recently taken place– leaf clearing, culvert cleaning and general tidying before winter comes in. This is being done by McGowans who have a maintenance contract.
  3. Salt: We have a limited number of bags of salt left over from last year. Please get in touch with any of the committee members and we can arrange to drop them off. Priority will be given to the elderly or vulnerable.
  4. Moy FB pages: We now have two pages. Please ‘like’ and join our public FB page (Moy sub committee) if you haven’t already done so – it is a good way to keep in touch, share photos and ideas. We also have a new FB page (MoySC) which is private and you need to ask to join or be invited.
  5. The pads in the defibrillator have been changed as required and the ‘old ’pads will be used for defibrillator training when allowed to resume.

Glen Kyllachy Wind Farm Connection project Update

[Update provided by Louise Anderson who is Community Liaisson Manager for Scottish & Southern Electricity  (SSEN)]

I am writing to provide an update on SHE Transmission’s Glen Kyllachy Wind Farm Connection project.

October sees the Glen Kyllachy Wind Farm Connection project welcome Norpower, our overhead line Principal Contractor, to site for the commencement of the erecting of the wood pole line.  Omexom, our substation Principal Contractor, arrived on site in September for the Glen Kyllachy substation work to begin.  This now completes the arrival of all of our Principal Contractors who will be undertaking the cabling, substation and overhead line works.

To ensure the new Tomatin shop can be utilised by the site based teams we contacted the Community Council to request that a limited number of LGV vehicles (e.g. vans and 4×4’s) were permitted to take the workforce to site via the Tomatin village.  This would allow for the workforce to stop at the village shop before arriving at site.

The last vehicle each morning will pass through Tomatin Village no later than 8.15am to avoid the period of children going to school, after this time access would only be permitted via the Farr and Glen Kyllachy Wind Farm haul road from the A9.

LGV’s will only be permitted to exit the site via the Farr and Glen Kyllachy Wind Farm haul road to the A9.

All other access to site will continue to be taken via the windfarm haul road and no HGVs or construction traffic will access site through the village of Tomatin.

As a responsible developer we will ensure that we keep the local community and all stakeholders informed as the project continues to progress.
