Board Member, Strathdearn Community Developments

Are you interested in being involved in making changes within Strathdearn to ensure that the community can face the future in a confident and sustainable manner?

SCD was established in 2013 in to deliver local projects and services into the area to meet with the community needs. Projects vary in size and cost ranging from multi-million pound affordable housing, the recently new Strathdearn hub/shop/cafe to simple footbridge replacement. In accordance with regulation covering our charitable status, we must demonstrate that all projects and services can be delivered and maintained to ensure we can achieve the best value and social outcomes for our community.

We are currently looking to appoint a maximum of four new Directors to our Board. Faced with a number of unique financial, project management and service delivery challenges, we are looking for motivated individuals who are committed to the community and prepared to give their time and effort.

We want to hear anyone within the community irrespective of their skill set or background, who is interested in the challenge of developing the strategic direction of the SCD activities in order to shape a positive and sustainable future for Strathdearn. To further strengthen the Board people with professional financial experience would be particularly welcomed.

The appointment is voluntary with input on an as needs basis depending on individual project or service delivery involvement. There is currently a minimum of twelve Board meetings per annum; normally held on a Thursday evening. At present these are held “virtually” in order to comply with current guidance. Director appointments are for a period of three years with potential for reappointment. In the event that applications received exceed the available places, new Directors will be elected following an SCD members vote at the AGM on the 3rd December 2020.

Nominations Application forms are available here: Nominations should be submitted by midnight on the 27th of November.
Should you wish to find out more or discuss the requirements please phone Mhairi Macsween on 01808 511700 or email scdassist@hotmail.com.

New Project Leader Maureen Mcdonald-Cooke joins SCD

SCD are delighted to welcome Maureen Mcdonald-Cooke to the team as Project Leader. Unfortunately, this means she has resigned from her position on the Board.

The role is not solely aimed at the affordable housing (although this will be the majority), it is aimed at tracking and assisting in the design and delivery of all SCD and Moy Sub Committee projects.

Great to have you on board Maureen!
