Community Council – Next meeting moved from 14th to 28th June

Strathdearn Community Council – Change of date for June Meeting to the 28th of June

The Strathdearn Community Council will be meeting on Tuesday the 28th of June rather than the 14th of June. This is due to other unavoidable commitments. We have decided that it would be better to change the date so that all Community Councillors can attend. We are also due to have our AGM in June. This will be at 7pm on the 28th and will be followed by our usual monthly meeting at 7.30. I will post the agenda in minutes prior to the meeting. Sorry for any inconvenience this change causes.

We would be very interested in hearing from any members of the public who would be interested in joining the Community Council. If you would like more information or to note your interest, please drop me an email on strathdearnccsecretary@gmail.com

Strathdearn Community Consultation – Summary of Main Findings

Strathdearn Community Consultation – Summary of Main Findings

Dawn Griesbach
Griesbach & AssociatesMay2022

Introduction

This is a summary of the main findings from a community survey, focus groups and interviews carried out among people who live and work in Strathdearn. This work was undertaken as part of a project to develop an updated community plan for Strathdearn. The survey was carried out during September and October 2021, closing on 31 October. Alongside the survey, focus groups were held with children and young people in the area, and interviews were carried out with local business owners. Survey respondents, focus group participants and interviewees were asked for their views about the needs of the community. Questions in the survey focused specifically on needs in eight areas: (i) children and young people, (ii) community transport, (iii) housing, (iv) village pub / restaurant, (v) visitor management, (vi) tackling climate change and the impacts of climate change, (vii) other ideas for using windfarm funding, and (viii) community communication. A short section at the end of the survey invited responses from people living in Moy, on the needs of that community.

Moy Matters #18 May 2022 Newsletter

MOY MATTERS (18)

The Moy sub-committee (MSC) urgently requires more volunteers to serve on it. If you live in Moy, Lynebeg, Dalmagarry or Ruthven and can spare a couple of hours 3 or 4 times a year to help the community and to generate ideas to help improve where we live, please contact either Marian Hendry, John Clarke or Linda Armit, or e mail Ed Cameron-Mackintosh at edwardc-m@strathdearn.org for more info.

1. Future Projects: the MSC is waiting for the findings of the community plan on 28th May in order to proceed with projects which have been prioritised by the local community.

2. Ranger: it is hoped to have a ranger for the Moy area again this year. Initial discussions have taken place.

3. Island in Moy Loch: the island has been designated a Section 1 protected nesting site by the RSPB with a maximum fine of £5000 if anyone is found disturbing the nests. If you see anyone on the island could you please let Neil Fraser know. (07753 186014)

4. Carved benches: the carved benches for Ruthven and Lynebeg have been delivered and will be put in place in the next few weeks.

As always we need your ideas so please get in touch with any of the MSC members to share your ideas or give any feedback.

Remember…..The MSC has been established by Strathdearn Community Development (SCD) “to identify projects for funding through the Strathdearn share of the Moy Windfarm Communuty Benefit Fund”. The members are Marian Hendry (marianhendry@strathdearn.org), John Clarke and Linda Armit.
