Save on home heating oil

Tomatin Oil Sharing Club (includes all of Strathdearn). This nation-wide company organises people in the same area to buy their heating oil as a ‘club.’ They email you a club price once a fortnight. It’s always worth ringing round a few local heating oil companies to compare but you’ll almost certainly find that you can save 5-10p/litre using the oil club price. Free to join.

Local weather

Highlands & Islands Weather has its own weather monitoring station in Tomatin. This records temperature, rainfall and wind speed automatically and loads the data online. It is a donation run service operated by Lee Schofield of Carrbridge in his free time. Lee has a vast knowledge of meteorology and uses this to provide accurate local forecasts for the area each day.
