Strathdearn Community Developments are delighted to announce the award of grant funding at just under 90% of the project costs from The Scottish Land Fund to progress the purchase of Hazelbank Woods, and the adjoining strip of land.
Also included within the level of grant is additional funding to support the project with revenue expenditure over a 2 year period.
We are hugely grateful to the Scottish Land Fund for providing us with this level of funding, which will be added to our community funds to facilitate the purchase.
Please note, although at this stage we have secured the funding, this does not mean we own the woodland areas.
However, we are also very grateful for the opportunity from the landowners concerned to have entered into the purchase stage to acquire community ownership, and thank them for their assistance.
This will be a fantastic achievement for our community once the completion of both purchases goes through the legal process which is expected to be in the New Year.
This has helped the community meet long held aspirations to bring woodland in the heart of Tomatin into the custodianship of the community. Ensuring recreational, health & wellbeing facilities will be available in perpetuity
