Our bonfire night is fast approaching and we are looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday 4th November 2023.

If you have any materials for the bonfire please can you drop them off at the site tomorrow evening if not Friday morning.

We have managed to get a bus organised for the event:-
4:50pm – The Old Manse, Moy bus stop
5pm – Tomatin Distillery
Drop off at the Strathdearn Primary School field
Pick up back at The Strathdearn back to Tomatin Distillery and Moy at 10:30pm.

If anyone needs transport Dalarossie Church, Balvraid, Clune please let us know asap.

If you are interested in the bus going to the school field before the bonfire is lit and returning home after pub night please let us know by dropping a comment below.

Please can all spectators make there way to the primary school field  for 5pm. Bonfire lit 5:30pm and fireworks is 6pm for approx. 10-12 minutes. There will be marshal staff and first aiders available on site.

Please do not take your own sparklers – our marshal staff will have sparklers if you would like one so please feel free to ask. (Remember gloves)

Please find attached the price list for the bar that is available at the hall 6:30pm – 10:30pm.

Fancy something to eat, Strathy Snacks will also be available at the hall car park.

We will have our very own Spotify playlist for anyone wanting to add their favourite tunes to play throughout the night.

Marshmallow toasting for the kids and adults too 🙂

We have managed to get our hands on a pool table and Jenga for the night which will be good fun for all.

We really cant wait to see the community together for our first SCD bonfire and pub night. Please feel free to take along your friends and family also the more the merrier.

A well attended and moving Service of Closure was held at Dalarossie Church on 16 July. We continue to explore the possibility of selling Dalarossie to SCD (Strathdearn Community Developments).

The Union of our former parishes was completed on 12 August when we became Strathnairn and Strathdearn Church of Scotland with Croy Church as the Parish Church with a secondary worship centre at the Strathdearn Hub where almost all of our Services at this end of the new united parish now take place, apart from the occasional Joint Service elsewhere which will be separately advertised. The times of the Sunday Services alternate monthly between 10am and 12 noon.

THE SCHEDULE OF SERVICES FOR THE NEXT THREE MONTHS IS AS FOLLOWS:

NOVEMBER REGULAR SUNDAY SERVICES – will be held in the Strathdearn Hub at 10am on the 5^th, 19^th and 26^th November with the opportunity for tea and fellowship after these Services

SPECIAL SERVICE FOR REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY ON 12 NOVEMBER – there will be NO CHURCH SERVICE in The Strathdearn Hub on REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY. There will be a Service at the Strathdearn War Memorial at 3pm (with Tea in Strathdearn Hub afterwards).

DECEMBER REGULAR SUNDAY SERVICES – will be held in the Strathdearn Hub at 12 noon on the 3^rd, 10^th, 17^th and Christmas Eve.

ADDITIONAL CHRISTMAS SERVICE: There will be an ALL AGE SERVICE ON CHRISTMAS EVE AT 6pm in the STRATHDEARN HUB.

HOGMANAY SERVICE: THERE WILL BE NO CHURCH SERVICE IN THE STRATHDEARN HUB ON 31 DECEMBER. There will instead be a JOINT SERVICE FOR THE UNITED PARISH at 11 am in DAVIOT CHURCH.

2024: JANUARY REGULAR CHURCH SERVICES – will be held in the Strathdearn Hub at 10am on the 7^th, 14^th, 21^st and 28^th January.

FEBRUARY REGULAR SUNDAY SERVICES – will be held in the Strathdearn Hub at 12 noon on 4^th , 11^th 18^th and 25^th February.

OTHER EVENTS:

Messy Church Christmas Family Fun Day – Saturday 2 December in the Strathdearn Hub from 2-4 pm. Usual programme of games, crafts, puppets, food and fun!

The Guild:

8 November at 2.30 pm in Daviot Church – Inverness Handbell Ringers. There will also be a Bring & Buy Sale.

13 December at 2.30 pm in the Strathdearn Hub – Christmas In-House.

10 January at 2.30 pm in Daviot Church – Speaker: Jonathan Appleby, Christian Engineers in Development.

14 February at 2.30 pm in The Strathdearn Hub – Messy Guild.

Join human ecologists Raghnaid Sandilands and Mairi McFadyen for an easy-paced guided walk to learn about and witness the close of one of the natural world’s most incredible journeys – when the salmon return upstream. This walk is suitable for all ages – please wear weather-appropriate clothing/footwear and bring a packed lunch. Following the morning’s walk, we will meet back at the Strathdearn Community Hub for an informal gathering to celebrate the return of the salmon. Bring your instrument and join our fine musicians, who will play sets of tunes and songs from Strathdearn. Those who couldn’t join us on the morning walk are very welcome to attend. Salmon-inspired children’s activities and refreshments will be provided. No need to book, just turn up!

Gaelic in the Landscape

Saturday 14 October, 2-4pm, Free

The Strathdearn, Tomatin

Researchers-in-residence, Raghnaid Sandilands and Mairi McFadyen, invite you to discover more about the Gaelic place names, stories and songs that connect the culture and ecology of the Findhorn River. Part of the Findhorn Watershed Initiative, this talk explores map and archive material, and the relationship between human ecology and environmental restoration.
