Activities on site

Bolt pads have been stripped and bolts have been loosened and are free within the cones. Pads have been put back over the bolts to keep the pockets clean and free of debris.

Plinth for the base of the pre cast stair has been cast. Dowels have been cast in to the pad for continuity with the slab pour when it happens.

The 1st lift of blockwork forming the stair enclosure has been built. The remaining blockwork will be built after the GF slabs have been cast.

Joiners have now formed and installed internal shutters on top of the bolt pads to allow the floor slabs to be cast up to the bolt pads.

Drain pop ups and service ducts have been installed and preparation for GF slab pours has commenced with sub floor upfill complete.

Sand blinding will be spread prior to laying DPM and insulation after the new year. The sub base was still frozen from the previous nights low temperatures.

Construction of parking soakaways adjacent to the road are ongoing.

Upcoming Activities

Lay sand blinding, dpm, underfloor & perimeter insulation.

Cast GF Slabs.

Erect scaffold and complete blockwork to the stairwell, install precast and complete stair blockwork.

Install Glulam and timber kit.

CANCEL MESSY CHURCH

There are just too many things going on in the community for us to find a Sunday for Messy Church this month!

More Messy Church in 2019 though – at the Strathdearn Hall from 4pm – 6pm on the last Sunday of the month.  We have Craft Time, then Bible Time, finishing with a tasty home cooked meal together.  No charge – donations are gratefully accepted but not asked for. All welcome – doesn’t matter whether you go to church or not – and age doesn’t matter either, it’s for everyone – and we would love to see you at our next Messy Church on Sunday 27th January at 4pm.

Adults don’t have to have a child to come along – but children do need to bring an adult with them.  Adults can try a craft too – or just chill out with a cup of coffee.

All welcome at all our Services and activities (any questions phone Vivian 511355):-

• Christmas Eve –
  6.30pm in the Strathdearn Hall – All Age Worship at Christmas (particularly suitable for families)   Cup of Tea afterwards.
• 11.30pm – Service of Nine Lessons & Carols.  This is a lovely, reflective Service preparing for the joy and wonder of Christmas Morning through the words of Scripture and the singing of Carols.
  (both services led by the Elders)

Otherwise you’ll find us in The Strathdearn Hall every Sunday in December, January and February usually at 10.30am – and from March – November – in Dalarossie Church on the 1st and 3rd Sundays – and in the Strathdearn Hall on the other Sundays (also at 10.30am).
And on Sunday 6th January 2019 we are having a Joint Service with Daviot & Dunlichity Church at 12 noon (with soup and pudding lunch to follow) – and you’re welcome then too!

Site establishment is in place. Toilets and welfare are available for use by site personnel.

Substructure blockwork is complete.

Casting of HD bolts and pads is complete. Bolt installation is tidy and has been well executed. Bolt pads have been stripped and bolts have been loosened and are free within the cones. Pads to be put back over the bolts to keep the pockets clean and free of debris. Shutters around the bolts pads have been struck.

Plinth for the base of the pre cast stair has been cast. Dowels have been cast in to the pad for continuity with the slab pour when it happens.

Winners double their money!

A very big thank you to SSE from Strathdearn for the great job they did repairing Station Road. Over the course of two days last week, the SSE crew upgraded the untarred track around the old railway station and down the side of the distillery. They filled in the potholes and ruts and when necessary, they paused work and moved their machinery to the side to allow access to locals. The job was completed in a professional and courteous manner without closing the road.

Strathdearn Development Company (SCD) supplied the materials and SSE provided men and equipment for free.

The job was organised by Jimmy Duncan as part of SCD’s quick gains programme and Neil MacDonald handled it on behalf of SSE. Thanks to you both and all the SSE crew for the work and time involved in making this happen.

Station Road forms part of the Tomatin path network, connecting the bus stop on the A9 north to the village centre. It is now a much easier walking route, particularly for those with pushchairs.

Joiners installing shutters for HD bolts for glulam frame. Ensure all extension shutter boxes are cleaned of rubble, drilling dust etc prior to casting.

Dowels for tying the pad extensions to the pad founds are being installed.

Excavations for parking soakaways are being undertaken adjacent to the road. Spoil is being disposed of locally.

Fairhurst have been consulted regarding subsoil percolation rates. Fairhurst have confirmed ground conditions are as expected and soakaways can proceed as per the design.
