Paula moved to the Highlands 28 years ago from Muirkirk,
a small miners’ village in East Ayrshire, with her husband Charlie and two children. The family took up home in Moy 13 years ago.
Initially she worked in an International Endurance Yard at Loch Ness Riding in Dores. Her love of horses took her into an animal nursing course, followed by her RCVS degree in Vet Nursing from Thurso College. She volunteered for a year as a vet nurse before being employed for many years at Inshes Vets. There she specialised in K9 hydrotherapy and was responsible for that area of the practice. During her nursing career she obtained her Diploma in Management.
Having worked for the last year as a local Strathdearn Carer, Paula has had the chance to get to know her community, “I’m originally from a very close-knit village where I was surrounded by elderly relatives who always wanted to pass the time of day with you. Moy is further out and so I enjoyed meeting more people from the area and being able to chat with the older residents.”
