Two exciting new posts have arisen to work as a Hub and Events Manager and Facilities Supervisor for White River Trading (WRT) the trading arm of Strathdearn Community Development Company.
Most of the Shop Brae Road (from the sewage treatment works to the road end of Tomatin House) will be closed to traffic for 6 weeks from 2nd September. Apparently Network Rail closed the same bit of road in July to do work on the railway viaduct but didn’t finish the work as planned, so they are coming back next month to complete it.
Network Rail have given little information or notice. For what it’s worth, here is the original Traffic Order for the job :
“The Council has made The Highland Council (Temporary Traffic Prohibition On The U2829 Tomatin – Balvraid, Branch Towards Upper Inverbrough And Raigbeg – Findhorn Bridge Road (Part), Inverness-shire, During Bridge Maintenance Works) Order 2019 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and related legislation, to temporarily prohibit traffic from using the U2829 between its junction with the private access leading to Tomatin House to its easternmost junction with the sewage treatment works.
The prohibition is required to enable bridge maintenance works to be safely carried out and will apply when a prohibition is identified by means of one or more of the appropriate temporary traffic signs as prescribed in the ‘Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016(b)’. The Order shall come into effect on Monday 8 July and shall remain in force until Friday 16 August 2019. Any enquires should be addressed to The Highland Council, Community Services, 94 Diriebught Road, Inverness, IV2 3QN”

ART IN STRATHDEARN’S ANNUAL ART EXHIBITION will be held next Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th in the hall. Free entry & parking

MOY MATTERS (6)
Many thanks to those who came along and supported our community engagement evening in March. It was good to have a chat and get lots of new ideas for future projects. Also a big thank you for the great turn out we had for our litter pick – it was amazing! We couldn’t believe just how much rubbish was collected. Areas covered were: Moy Moss right along to the A9 junction, Moy Estate; the road down to Tullochclury and the loch side path; Ruthven – from the A9 down to the bridge; and Lynebeg. We plan to have another litter pick day in the Autumn.
Progress to date:
-
Tidying up of footpath: the path is now complete. McGowans are due back shortly to sort out any snagging, put down weedkiller on the new section of verge and finally sow some grass seed.
-
Tidying up the path around Moy Loch (Birch walk): we hope this will be done in the summer after the birds have finished nesting.
-
New signs for Moy: the graphic designer has completed the drawings and we now await the signs being made up.
-
Meeting place: no further progress at the moment
-
Moy FB page: it is called Moy sub-committee. Please ‘like’ us and join us. Feel free to post. Also if you are out and about and take photos in our lovely area, we would love to see them. There are already photos from our litter pick on the page.
-
Can we ask that everyone keeps a regular check on the planters and the plants, especially in this dry weather and if ever there is a problem please let us know.
The Moy Sub-Committee has its own folder in the Document library on the Strathdearn community website where you can keep up to date with the minutes of meetings, background documents and the latest reports.
As always the sub-committee members want everyone to keep in touch so, if you want to contribute or give any feedback, please feel free to contact any of the sub-committee members at any time. The members are Marian Hendry (Chair, marian.hendry@talk21.com), Iain Macdonald (Vice Chair), Alastair Fraser, Davie Cameron, John Clarke, Jimmy Duncan.
