Activities on site
The blockwork forming the stair enclosure has been completed and the fireproof cap has been built. The perimeter of the capping has now been fire sealed to the viewing gallery side. The meeting room side remains to be fire stopped. Still the case.
The final installation of diagonal bracing remains to be completed in the main hall.
Wall cladding is complete with window seals and timber ingos to be fitted. The upper level boards have been overcoated and the finish is looking far more even. Grilles have been installed over all plenum boxes including the gable intake and extract plenums.
Now that the scaffold has been dropped on the West elevation numerous paint runs on the low level narrow cladding boards can be seen. These will have to be flattened and re coated. Discussed with Chud and Archie on site who are aware and steps will be taken to make good
1st fix electrical works are complete, back boxes are being fitted and sub mains boards being wired in. boxing out of the sockets, switches etc is on going. Grommets have been fitted in the metal back boxes where cables enter the box.
Plumbers have completed 1st fix plumbing and heating pipework runs above the shower and changing areas as well as above ceiling level at the Youth Group/ room room and Viewing Gallery/Lighting Control. The ceilings in the shower/changing areas are being insulated and sheeted. Internal partition erection is ongoing through the GF changing areas.
Exhaust and Fresh Air inlet Plenum boxes have been installed into the west elevation gable. Ducts for the air handling plant has been installed and infill ducting between the units is substantially complete.
Chipboard flooring is being laid on the floor of the 1st floor multi purpose area.
Main hall plasterboard is complete and access corridor plasterboarding is ongoing.
Recent heavy rain has identified 2 leaks from the opening sashes of the recently installed roof lights. 1 in the hall and one in the corridor. The manufacturer has now delayed remediating the issue for several weeks due to the installer still being engaged on an ongoing contract.
The water and fire mains installations from the point of connection to the building is ongoing. A date for connection to the supply main remains to be agreed. Trenches have now been backfilled. SW have been on site to review the existing mains and what valves need to be shut off to allow the site to be connected. SW believe they can connect the site with minimal impact on supplies to other properties and without shutting off the shop. The site water main will be tested and sterilised to tie in with SW’s connection programme.
The trenches for the lightning protection tapes have been backfilled. Copies of test and resistance certificates have still to be issued by the specialist contractor.
Bases for the ASHP and the SSE transformer have been cast. Mains power cables have been run in to the SSE transformer base. Dates from SSE for offsite works and installation of the transfomer remain to be issued.
Toilet and changing area IPS panels have been delivered to site. Framing for the IPS is incorporated within the system so will be installed with the panels.

Bats were witnessed during the 2nd survey. 1 or 2 bats were noted flying around outside and 1 inside. The millenium hall does not appear to be a maternity roost or require further surveys. The ecologist will report fully by the 10th of August.
The fire fighting water supply tank has been delivered to site and will be installed w/c 5th August.
