Overnight temporary traffic signals during December, January and February

A9 Dualling: Tomatin to Moy project:

Further to our communication last month, we are writing to advise you of traffic management being implemented on the A9 trunk road between Tomatin and Moy to allow us to safely undertake site establishment works.

To facilitate the main construction works, and to ensure the safety of road users and the workforce, traffic management is required to form site access points. These accesses will allow workers, plant and materials to safely access the construction areas. Once constructed, they will have minimal impact on the operation of the A9.

Traffic management will involve temporary traffic signals with a temporary speed restriction of 30mph throughout the works area. To minimise traffic disruption, working hours will be between 1930hrs and 0600hrs each night between Sunday night and Friday morning. There will be no works during the day or on Friday or Saturday nights.

It is expected that these overnight traffic management measures will be implemented on the A9 commencing Sunday 1 December 2024 for approximately one week.

Temporary traffic signals are expected to be required again on the A9 in January 2025 and February 2025 and further information will be provided on these nearer the time.

These works are weather dependent and scheduled dates are subject to change.

Road users are advised to plan their journey in advance and visit Traffic Scotland for live updates. Please drive with care on approach to the area between Tomatin and Moy whilst traffic management is in place. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Traffic management measures such as localised verge coning and short priority stop and go systems will continue to be in place on the local road network during daytime hours throughout this period.

The above works may temporarily increase noise levels in the immediate surrounding area and we would like to reassure you that in order to keep disturbance to a minimum, we will utilise best practice methods of working. This will include using low noise reversing alarms on machinery and briefing staff on the importance of keeping noise levels to a minimum.

All works undertaken are subject to consultation with, and approval from, the Local Authority and the Local Authority Environmental Services before being implemented. As part of this approvals process, we are required to provide justification to Local Authorities including details of the reasons for working at night, the timing of works and the measures we plan to take to minimise disturbance to our neighbours.
