Scottish Land & Estates, who are taking a leading role in helping fight the Cairngorms wildfire, have praised the response to their earlier appeal for equipment. Ross Ewing (Director of Moorland & Strategic Projects) said “Further to our emails earlier this evening, we have been informed that the response has been superb and no further plant hire machinery is required. We would like to relay our sincere thanks to everyone who has been involved.”

Wildfire – Request to muster firefighting equipment
Dear Member
Please find below a message from Firebreak Services Ltd which requests a general muster of firefighting equipment and trained operators to assist with the wildfire which has flared up near Aviemore. I am advised that heavy plant machinery – bulldozers, diggers, etc – is particularly needed.
The wildfire near Aviemore has flared up again and could threaten Nethybridge village. A general muster for Estates with firefighting equipment and trained operators has been requested at the following muster point:
Nethybridge village Football Pitch – Next to the Nethy Bridge Visitor Centre, Dell road, Nethy Bridge, PH25 3DG
