Alec was born at Old Clune where his father was gamekeeper for the Clune Estate. He had two sisters but his mother died when he was very small. The children were then looked after by a housekeeper.
He did National Service at the end of the Korean War then became keeper at Dalmigivie Estate after marrying Sheila. They had three children. He was a great storyteller and always amusing!
